This Thursday, July 9, the Intrepid Museum’s seventh annual Summer Movie Series continues with a free screening of October Sky on the flight deck! This year, for the first time ever, each film will be introduced by a special guest. Kayla Rajsky, a member of the Cornell University Rocketry Team, will introduce October Sky.
Upcoming films in our Summer Movie Series include Moon, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Apollo 13 and Wall-E. Guest speakers include Dr. Charles Marmar, a leading expert on posttraumatic stress disorder; Dr. Steve B. Howell, a project scientist at NASA Ames Research Center; Jeffrey Kluger, co-author of the book Apollo 13; and Dr. Matei Ciocarlie, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Doors open at 7:30pm, and the program begins at sunset, weather permitting. Space is limited. Admission tickets (free of charge) will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis before the screening.
