ACCESS FAMILY PROGRAMS

ACCESS FAMILY PROGRAMS

The Intrepid Museum offers monthly programs for children (ages 5-17) with learning and developmental disabilities. Similar family programs for teens (15+) and adults with developmental disabilities are offered six times a year. These two-hour programs take place on select Sundays during regular Museum hours. Families take a guided, interactive tour of the Museum and participate in art-making activities that everyone can enjoy.

Program Options:

Sunday, January 21
11:00am – 1:00pm

Ship Safety — for children ages 5–17
Discover how Intrepid’s crew kept this ship running safely and smoothly, and visit the museum’s new temporary exhibition: “Don’t be a Dilbert!” Families will explore different levels of the ship to learn how sailors stayed safe and connections to their own lives using real world applications.

Sunday, February 11
11:00am – 1:00pm
Traditions aboard Intrepid — for children ages 5–17

Explore how crew members aboard Intrepid celebrated special occasions with their fellow sailors when their families were far away. The program will recreate some of these U.S. Navy traditions and give families the chance to share some of their own! Registration will be opening soon!

Family programs are free but registration is required. To register, please fill out and submit the online form. Registration typically opens one month in advance. If you have any questions, please contact access@intrepidmuseum.org or call 646-381-5158.
