TEEN EVENTS

Teen and College Night

 
If you want to learn more about science and tech, connect with colleges, or are just looking for a unique place to hang with friends, the Intrepid Museum offers events for teens to connect, learn and meet new people. Throughout the school year, the Museum provides teen audiences with science programming, mentorship days, college fairs and teen and college nights. See the listing below for information on upcoming programs. Programs welcome all teens (unless otherwise noted) and are free with required registration. Hope to see you there!

  • Upcoming Teen Events

    Youth Leadership Opportunities at the Intrepid Museum
    December 8, 2018
    10:00am–12:30pm

    Parents, teachers, school administrators and teens from New York City are invited to learn more about the Intrepid Museum’s no-cost youth leadership programs. Current 8th and 9th grade girls are encouraged to attend a 10:00am session about the GOALS for Girls 6-week summer intensive program, which focuses on leadership and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). At 11:30am, all current 10th grade students are encouraged to attend a Youth Leadership Institute session. YLI is a 10-month program that takes place on weekends and school holidays, focusing on civics, leadership and social advocacy issues. Both teen programs provide college and career-readiness workshops and youth development opportunities.

    A Sustainable Planet, Part 2: What is Eco Fashion?
    February 2, 2019
    11:00am–3:00pm

    Part two of the Sustainable Planet series explores the importance and impact of the fashion industry on the global environment. Discover how consumerism and the manufacturing of clothing and accessories affect our planet through transportation, production and reusable fabrics. Keynote speaker Kate McGregor, owner of NYC eco-fashion boutique Kaight, will share her commitment to sustainable fashion through zero-waste, reclaimed materials, and more!

    Girls in Science and Engineering Day
    March 9, 2019
    11:00am–3:00pm

    The Intrepid Museum’s GOALS for Girls program invites you to celebrate science, technology, engineering and math at the fifth annual Girls in Science and Engineering Day. Enjoy hands-on experiences, exciting demonstrations and engaging discussions provided by science-based organizations, college programs and New York City public school students.

    Mentorship Day
    March 23, 2019
    11:00am–3:00pm

    Join us for a FREE day of mentorship, empowerment and leadership for teen girls ages 14–18. Meet and establish one-on-one connections with women representing a variety of STEAM fields. Please note this program is specifically for girls.

    College Fair
    April 20, 2019
    11:00am–3:00pm

    Join us at our FREE college fair! Upper middle and high school students are invited to learn about the college application process in an intimate and unique setting, speak with college and university representatives and participate in workshop sessions.

  • Teen and College Nights

    Head to the Museum for a night of tours, planetarium shows and flight simulator rides. Test your knowledge of the ship’s history and other topics in our trivia contest while hanging out with your friends or making new ones from other schools. School ID is required.
