VIRTUAL YOUTH SUMMIT

VIRTUAL YOUTH SUMMIT

The Intrepid Museum Youth Summit is a FREE virtual conference that invites students to join the Museum for a day of inspiration and action. Participants will hear from highly motivated teens who have created or worked on projects that address issues or problems that they may see in their daily lives, whether locally (neighborhood, borough, or city), nationally or globally.

The Intrepid Museum's Youth Summit Aspires to:

  • Provide an environment that promotes conversation, development and engagement for youth to address the issues that matter to them
  • Increase confidence in teens and youth to make change in their communities
  • Engage cultural institutions, academia and industry leaders in conversation and enlist support for teens and youth

FAQS

Q Is the Youth Summit Free?
A Yes.

Q What should I wear?
A We know that a virtual setting is different than an in person setting, but when you dress professionally it will add to your confidence and ready you for meaningful conversations with your peers. If you are a presenter, wear comfortable clothing that looks professional ("business casual"). Examples of business casual include attire you would wear to a job or college interview.

Q What is the day like?
A Last year’s Summit was a great day attended by 393 students, presenters and attendees. There is a varied array of student presenters and youth minded organizations from all over the world which made it inspiring and motivating for all who attended.

Q Do I need to prepare anything for the day?
A Have a notebook handy, you never know when you might want to write down an interesting fact or a presenter’s contact information if you think they are really interesting.

Q What if I sign up and then realize I can’t go to the Summit?
A We understand that things come up unexpectedly, like sickness or family commitments. If you plan to come to the Summit and later realize you are unable to make it (even up to the day of the conference), please email us at youthleadership@intrepidmuseum.org so that we can potentially give your spot to someone else who is able to attend.

Q Is there a limit to how many people can attend the Summit?
A Since this is a virtual program, space within the main session is available to a larger audience.  However, space is limited for the concurrent sessions.  Please visit the session you are interested in as early as possible.
