The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is seeking a Social Media Manager to support the Museum’s marketing efforts through the institution social media channels. Reporting to the Brand Creative Director, the Social Media Manager is responsible for implementing the Museum’s social media strategy, developing brand awareness, introducing new partnership opportunities, and leveraging the institution’s growing digital content. The position will coordinate activities with internal departments to support their respective initiatives, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating an engaged social media and digital community.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Data/Database:

  • Provide functional expertise, best practices, and recommendations regarding the execution of digital marketing campaigns.
  • Apply expertise to demonstrate how digital communications can improve the reach and enhance effectiveness of museum marketing campaign content.
  • Manage and prioritize the Museum’s digital communications from key museum stakeholders, including social media, website, and emails in support of intuitional initiatives.
  • Analyzing the long-term needs of the company’s social media strategy and offering quarterly reports to the management and executive teams, outlining any necessary changes to the overall digital marketing plan.
  • Develop and copy write original content required for various digital assets including emails, website, and social media channels to grow and engage the digital audience.
  • Creating captivating content for an organization’s social media sites, which may include writing blogs, articles, posts, and multimedia content.
  • Analyze and optimize marketing related content performance in the various digital communication channels and provide insights and key learnings to affiliated teams.
  • Report on the progress of applying various social media tactics using a variety of digital analytics and media tracking tools.
  • Developing monthly reports on emerging social media trends that will be submitted to the management and executive teams.
  • Ensure appropriate planning and resources are in place to accomplish goals.
  • Ensure digital communication projects/programs are executed within strict conformance with company's risk, security, style guide and other applicable standards and support the development of new standards for evolving channels.
  • Setting measurable goals for campaigns, measuring, and showing the Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Manage and develop video content in conjunction with the video production team while leveraging within social and digital media channels.
  • Evaluate and experiment with emerging social platforms and new technologies to generate buzz and engagement.
  • Improve the usability, design, content, and conversion of the museum website.
  • Monitoring and responding to customer feedback, comments, and social media posts.
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
  • Hands on experience in content management, with excellent copywriting skills
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and digital layouts)

Additional Competence Requirements:

  • Experience in the oversight and management of digital marketing campaigns across several channels.
  • Extensive experience in working with various social media platforms
  • (Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitch, etc.)
  • Great communication skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders, creatives, and departments.
  • Track record of building scalable digital marketing campaign strategies and executing strategies with passion, precision, and excellence.
  • An ability to multitask and perform under pressure
  • Good operational and process orientation. Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • A sound understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics and keyword search.
  • Management experience leading matrixed teams including goal setting, managing team activities, and managing performance.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, experience in dealing with multiple and diverse internal stakeholders and interacting with business and technology partners. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, across all organizational levels.

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field from four-year college or university and two related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years professional experience in social media, digital marketing or communications related position.
  • Strong knowledge of social media channels and tools and digital marketing.
    with Solid knowledge of Google Analytics and Sprout Social Platform.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
    groups of managers, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of how to use editing and graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Knowledge of graphic design best practices and principles for digital projects
  • Familiarity with web design and coding.
