Veterans & Military
All in-person and online programs are free with advance registration for active military members, veterans and their families and offer endless opportunities to share, learn and discover with peers.
Join fellow veterans and service members at the Intrepid Museum to explore the Museum without the crowds. Then join peers for conversation, a behind-the-scenes experience and a catered dinner.
The Intrepid Museum offers free guided tours for organizations that serve veterans and military families. Virtual programs (using Zoom, Google Meet or other platforms) are also available. These interactive programs are tailored to the interests of the group.
Veteran and military families receive priority access to public events like Family Days, Fleet Week, Kids Week and Free Fridays, as well as select member benefits at these events. Veterans and their guests are also specially invited to public programs focused on veteran experiences, such as special film screenings, performances and talks.
Free Movie Night Series: Select Fridays, Doors open at 7:00pm
This summer, the Intrepid Museum marks the 250th anniversary of the United States with a special edition of its annual Summer Movie Series. Set against the backdrop of the Hudson River and city skyline, the series highlights films that reflect the adventure, resilience and imagination woven into the American story. Current and former service members and their guests are invited to use the member line for priority access!

Celebrating America's 250th: July 3-7
Celebrate America’s 250th birthday at the Intrepid Museum, July 3–7, 2026! Throughout the weekend, enjoy musical performances and explore a variety of military displays, activities, and demonstrations from the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Naval Research, and more. The Intrepid Museum will serve as a vibrant museum hub for celebration, reflection, and learning.

Summer Tasting Fest: Friday, August 21 | 6:30pm-10:00pm
Explore the world of wine and mixology with friends as you enjoy your favorite libations. Summer Tasting Fest at the Intrepid Museum is your all-access pass to a wide variety of emerging and renowned breweries, wineries, and spirits from near and far. Sample a range of beverages throughout the evening while enjoying live entertainment, delicious food, and interactive games. A limited number of free tickets will be available for current and former service members and their guests. More information coming soon.
We welcome all former crew members of Intrepid and Growler and their families to visit the Museum. We are honored to preserve their legacy through the incredible artifacts they donate and the personal experiences they share with visitors.

The Museum’s education programs are supported, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
Since 2013, the Oral History Project has collected stories of those who served on board the historic aircraft carrier Intrepid from 1943 to 1974, as well as those associated with the submarine Growler, the space shuttle orbiter Enterprise and the supersonic airliner Concorde.
